Mary Rose Medak

January 9, 1955 — April 18, 2026

Mary Rose Medak, 71, was born on January 9th,1955 and died peacefully on April 18th,2026 surrounded by her family. 

She was a very energetic, outgoing and full of life person. And oh, so competitive. Mary deeply loved her children (2 sons), grandchildren (3) and extended family.

She was born to Bert and Elizabeth Morrissey in Roseburg, Oregon and was one of seven children. The Morrissey’s moved to Portland in 1968. Mary attended Jackson High School and in 1977 graduated from the University of Portland with an accounting degree. It was at the University of Portland where she met her husband, Ed Medak. They were married in September of 1977.

Mary’s professional career began as an auditor for the Internal Revenue Service. She then managed several law firms. Finally, she was the controller for the Walter E Nelson Co. until her retirement in 2013. Mary was very athletic and loved to watch sports and participate in sports. She was a high school gymnast and City of Portland champion. Her competitiveness was evident in everything she did.

Most importantly, Mary was a faith- based person and lifelong Catholic. Her faith and family were most important to her. When asked recently at the hospital what her most important accomplishment in life was, she did not hesitate to answer, raising her sons.

Mary is predeceased by her parents Bert and Elizabeth, siblings: Betty Rae, Richard, Ann and Tim. She is survived by her husband Ed, sons Eddie (Rachel) and Dan. Grandchildren, Ryan, Emma and Jack. Also, numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service and mass will be held Friday May 8th, 2026 at 11:00am. at Christ Church 1060 Chandler St. Lake Oswego, Oregon. A celebration of life will immediately follow at Ironlight 525 Third St. Ste 400 Lake Oswego, Oregon
