Maureen Anne O’Meara Uhlmeyer passed away peacefully on June 25th in Portland, OR, while surrounded by her husband, kids, and son-in-law. Her faithful German Shepherd, Daisy, was by her side as well.
Born in Portland to Ed O’Meara and Frances Sullivan O’Meara, Maureen graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in 1976. She then attended the University of Portland, where she studied nursing, played on the university's first (and undefeated!) women’s soccer team, and earned her BSN in 1980.
She married David Uhlmeyer on May 7th, 1983 at Ascension Catholic Church in Portland. The couple recently celebrated their 43rd anniversary by embracing a motto passed down to Maureen by her mother: “Life is short, eat dessert first.”
Maureen devoted her life to caring for others. She was a Registered Nurse, a loving wife, a mother, and a Certified Nursing Assistant instructor.
Maureen was loved by all who met her. She was an avid fan of the Portland Trail Blazers, the Oregon Coast, cats, dogs, and The Peanuts. She strongly identified with Linus van Pelt, often stating that he was a quiet philosopher, much like herself.
Maureen is survived by her husband, David; her sister, Kathleen; and her children, Ryan, Kevin, and Shannon Uhlmeyer and husband, Raul Aragon. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Frances, and her brother, Dennis O’Meara.
Details about her service to follow. Her family asks for privacy during this difficult time.
