William H. McCarthy, M.D.       1934 – 2013

Bill passed away August 19^th, 2023, after a lengthy illness.  He was predeceased by his daughter Denise Medica and great granddaughter Qinnlyn Adair. Bill is survived by his wife Andy and children: Bill (Kim) McCarthy, Portland, Janice McCarthy, Happy Valley, Therese (Lonnie) Dicus, Milwaukie, Kathleen McCarthy, Shoreline, WA, Maureen (Mike) Klobertanz, Crescent Lake, Michael (Patti) McCarthy, Butte MT, Ethan (Stephanie) Manuel, Canby, Joe McCarthy, LA CA, son-in-law Paul Medica, Portland.

He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, and one great grandson, who have enjoyed their time with Papa and have great memories. Two great grandchildren are on the way. Also surviving is his sister Anne (Bob) Haight, Richland, WA and brother Pat (Cheryl) McCarthy, Spokane WA and many nieces and nephews.

Bill graduated from Gonzaga Prep, Gonzaga University, and Creighton Medical School. He served in the Air Force in El Paso and San Antonio Texas before coming to Oregon to join Roy Payne MD in private practice at Clackamas Internal Medicine Clinic in Milwaukie. He served in several capacities at Dwyer Hospital, Providence Milwaukie Hospital, PACC and others.

Bill was a longtime member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Milwaukie and supported education in many ways. His family members were reminded frequently of proper grammar. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. John the Baptist School.

A funeral mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church on August 28^th, 2023, at Noon.  10955 S.E. 25^th Ave Milwaukie, OR 97222.

Prior to mass there will be a decade of the rosary at 11:45. Refreshments to follow mass will be provided at the St. John cafeteria. Burial at Gethsemani Cemetery following the services.
