Stacey Richards Pinder

Stacey Richards Pinder was a beloved wife and mother with a deep faith, a sharp wit, a crafty sensibility, and a smile that lit up a room.

Born in Bell, California, Stacey was adopted by Don and Mary Luclare Richards and was raised with her brothers Jeff and Danny. She lived most of her life in Southern California, where she enjoyed spending time at the beach and soaking up the sun. In the summers, she would spend her days baking with her grandma Ruby in Mill City, Oregon. Her parents eventually retired in Eugene, Oregon, and Stacey moved to be closer to them as a young adult.

In 1987, Stacey met her biological brother Rob, and they formed an instant bond, developing a beautiful older sister / younger brother relationship over the years. Rob introduced Stacey to her birth mother, Marilyn. Over time, as she experienced the loss of her parents and started her own family, Stacey accepted her very blessed reality that she got to have two incredible mothers in her lifetime. Rob and Marilyn were among the family surrounding her in her final days.

On June 29, 1991, Stacey met Michael Pinder through the Active 20/30 Club at a baseball game in Eugene. They had their first official date on Aug. 29, 1991, at Mike’s favorite local pub, Stanich’s, where they planned their future together. After a brief courtship, they took the leap and married on Feb. 29, 1992. They welcomed two beautiful daughters, Elisabeth and Emily, who were the joys of Stacey’s life. The family made cherished memories together on trips to Mexico, while spending time with family in Northern Idaho, and, much like Stacey’s childhood, enjoying summers in Mill City.

Stacey was deeply devoted to her Catholic faith. She explored her faith early in life through the Nazarene church. Marrying into a large Catholic family, Stacey began RCIA classes and was baptized in 1994. She found an incredibly meaningful career working as the Director of Religious Education for Christ the King Parish, where she could share her faith with parishioners. In more recent years, she worked for a company that provides Catholic curriculum to parishes and schools throughout the United States.

Stacey was a skilled crafter, who poured her magic touch into everything from scrapbooks to custom cribbage boards to beautiful personalized quilts. In recent years, she completed a quilting project for every new baby that came into her family. This was her passion until the very end.

Stacey is survived by her husband Michael; her daughters Elisabeth and Emily; her mother Marilyn; her siblings Jeff, Danny, Rob, and Nolana; and countless extended family and friends.

Stacey’s funeral Mass will be held at St. Rose of Lima Parish in Portland, OR on Oct. 16, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., with a Rosary preceding the Mass at 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, you’re invited to donate to the Bob and Joanne Pinder Endowed Scholarship at St. Rose School or Central Catholic High School.
