Sharon (Shari) Lois Retter, born Sharon Lois Wess was born in Portland, OR on October 16th 1938.
She was the oldest of three girls, a beloved Sister, Mother, Aunt, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and friend to many. Preceded in death by her parents Peter and Mary Wess and her sister Michell. Sharon died May 3rd, 2023 at the age of 84, at home looking over her garden, in Portland, OR surrounded by her loved ones.
Sharon’s family immigrated to America from Hungry, bringing with them and passing down their family recipes. She always enjoyed a good German meal often reminiscing of her Mama’s cooking with every bite.
She had a small modeling career, in her early 30’s, while living in Japan often joking that it was because she was considered tall, but being just over 5 ft, she thought this was quite amusing.
Sharon loved spending time in her garden, retail shops and bazaars and loved sharing her bounty of clothes, plants and other treasures with her family, friends, neighbors and many admirers. She was a crossword enthusiast, always having a puzzle book close by with a pencil inside. A woman of many shades, she also enjoyed watching figure skating, the read of a good romance novel and spoke often of her ‘one sided romance’ with Fabio. She had a huge passion for her kitties, from her purebred Himalayan to her senior talkative rescue tabby and everyone in between. She loved each one individually always having a special bond. There wasn’t much she would do or give to those that she loved and cherished the most, she was a very loving and caring person,
Sharon will be lovingly remembered and tremendously missed by her sister; Mary Meyers, three sons; Mark, Bret and Todd Retter, niece; Diana Wilson, grand daughters; Candice Griffin, Cassandra Decker and Chelcey Retter and great grandchildren; Elijah and Julie.
