Our dear sister, Sally fought the most courageous battle with cancer and passed away March 16th. Daughter of William and Patricia Prichard, she was the middle child of five growing up in a lovely Irvington neighborhood. She attended Madeleine Grade School, Marycrest High before transferring to U.S. Grant where she thrived. She received her BS and master's degree from PSU and was hired by the school district in L
Lake Forest, Illinois. She braved a few winters in Chicago before returning home and went to work for OHSU Center for Speech and Hearing for 15 years. Sally spent the next 20 plus years with the Portland Public School District teaching in several grade schools and Roosevelt, Jefferson, Wilson and Grant High Schools.
Sally put herself through school working at Meier & Frank Lloyd Center often walking to work and back. She had great taste and was a spiffy dresser.
Sally made and kept many friends from all walks of her life: schools, church, social groups, neighbors, exercise classes, walking and her gym. She knew practically every coffee shop and bakery in town, often scouting new ones on the weekends. She was a baker par excellence. We anticipated her arrival with a Christmas tin full of snickerdoodles, English toffee, fudge, ginger cookies and lemon bars with bated breath. A family event was never complete without one of her cakes or pies. She was generous with her gifts as well as her time. Brother Charlie will never forget the many frigid winter mornings when he would wake her up at 5 a.m. to beg her to drive him on his paper route. She never turned him down.
Sally is survived by sisters Susan Zenner (Jim), Carol Cerasin (Mike), Anne Kebbe and brother Charles Prichard (Marion) and many nieces and nephews.
We will always love and remember you, Sally.
