Nancy Letourneau, 85, of Portland, Ore., died surrounded by family Nov. 4, 2023.
She was born in Providence, R.I., in 1938 to Edward and Kathryn Pezzullo, where she grew up with her older siblings Richard and Barbara. Nancy was exceptionally funny and bright and famously skipped two grades in school before she met Alfred Letourneau. They were married in 1957 and had four daughters, Caprice, Dina, Claudine, and Stefanie.
Family meant everything to Nancy. She and Al were married 50 years, over which time the family moved over 20 times for Al's job.
Nancy had the innate ability to move into a new house and make it HOME within days. She was an extraordinary mother – as warm and caring as she was tough and no nonsense – to her four daughters, and a doting grandmother to her eight grandchildren, Amanda, Erik, Shae, Tyler, Ethan, Payton, Dylan, and Daniela.
Nancy was gifted at making friends and had an active social life. She spent much of her time across her varied hobbies and friend groups, and especially with the ladies she called her 'posse.' Whether it was in a new city she had to settle in quickly, a new crafting or athletic club, or a simple trip to the grocery store or Starbucks, Nancy's charming wit drew people in everywhere she went.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred; sister, Barbara; and grandsons, Erik and Payton. She is survived by daughters, Caprice (Dave), Dina, Claudine (Bernardo), and Stefanie (Jim); by grandchildren, Amanda, Shae, Tyler, Ethan, Dylan, and Daniela; and by countless extended family and an extraordinary community of friends.
A celebration of life for Nancy will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 11, 2023, at Nancy's home. Please contact the family for location information.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation to SMART (Start Making A Reader Today.) As a SMART volunteer, connecting with children through books was one of Nancy's passions. https://rb.gy/cxns2s
