In Loving Memory of Michael G. Lisac
May 30, 1944 – October 12, 2025
Michael G. Lisac was born in Portland, Oregon, on May 30, 1944, the twelfth of
fourteen children born to Nikola Lisac and Pauline Merhar. He graduated from
Milwaukie High School in 1962 and married Joanne Parry in 1964, beginning a
lifelong partnership rooted in faith and family. Michael worked at Lisac’s Market until
the grocery department closed in 1975, after which he earned his CDL license and
continued his avocation as a professional truck driver. He retired with an impeccable
record—completing his career without a single incident—a testament to his discipline,
dedication, and integrity.
Mike was a devoted Catholic, a steadfast husband, and a committed father whose life
bore witness to his faith. He found the presence of God in the order and beauty of
creation, maintaining his home and yard with devotion and purpose. His tea roses,
blessed by the glove of Saint Padre Pio, stood as a reflection of his deep reverence
for the Blessed Mother and his union with the Divine Will, as expressed in the words
of John 17.
In his younger years, Michael enjoyed water skiing, fishing, and caring for his yard. As
time went on, his faith took an ever more central place in his life. He established
Rosary groups and Divine Will prayer cenacles within his faith community, guiding
others in prayer and devotion. His family remembers his frequent invitation to both
friends and strangers alike to join him in the prayer of consecration to the Divine Will,
the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Michael never let an
opportunity pass to share or instruct others in the Divine Mercy. These devotions
brought him profound peace and consolation, and he took great joy in sharing them
with all those he encountered in his later years.
Michael and his wife, Joanne, were blessed with five children, whom they raised in
faith and family devotion. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joanne, and
their daughter, Seanna. He is survived by his daughter Shelley Sample and her
husband, Tony, of Amarillo, Texas, along with their eight children and four
grandchildren; daughter Stephanie Lisac of Kailua-Kona, Hawai‘i, and her two sons
and one granddaughter; son Nick Lisac of Beaverton, Oregon; and son Michael J.A.
Lisac and his wife, Kristin, of Canby, Oregon, his daughter, and her three sons.
May Michael rest in the peace of Christ, reunited with his beloved wife and daughter in
the eternal light of Heaven.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.
May he rest in peace. Amen.
