Mary Ann Altendorf

Mary Ann Altendorf, 85, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2025 in Portland Oregon after a yearlong battle with cancer. Mary Ann was born on November 24, 1939 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the second born and eldest daughter of Joe and Jean Altendorf. The family moved to The Dalles, Oregon in 1944 where she completed her schooling. After high school Mary Ann lived and worked in California primarily in the insurance industry and later managing her own store called “Mary Ann’s Country Kitchen.”

In 1992 she moved back to Oregon and during that time was diligent in the care of her mom, Jean. Mary Ann finished her formal work career at Intel in Hillsboro Oregon. After retirement she followed a passion and became very active in a Quilting group that made quilts for patients of St Vincent Hospital in Portland.

She is survived by siblings Robert (Kay), Joan, John (Jodi), Beth (Jim) and Larry (Jo) and was preceded in death by her parents. She will be interred at Mt Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Portland.

Mary Ann loved spending time with her friends and family, especially her nieces and nephews. She will be remembered as a kind, caring and strong-willed daughter, sister, aunt and friend.
