Marvin L. Duffy, “Duffy”, 88, of Portland, Oregon passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Parma, Idaho on September 25, 1936 to the late Rebecca and William C. Duffy.
Duffy’s favorite growing up years were spent in Cascade Locks, OR. His family later moved to Clarkston, WA where he graduated from Clarkston Highschool. He joined the United States Navy in 1954. His time in the Navy and his jobs flying airborne surveys took him all over the world. Once he settled in Portland, OR he didn’t care to travel as much, unless it was to the mountains or back to Cascade Locks for a swirl cone. He retired from Tyco Electronics in 2012. He enjoyed fishing, telling stories, watching local sports teams, spending time with family, rooting for the underdog, and ensuring his grandchildren had ice cream.
Duffy is survived by his wife of 40 years, Judi; his children, Daniel Duffy, Caymi Duffy, John Coutu (Crystal Coutu), Adam Coutu (Stella Dantas-Coutu), Andrew Coutu (Michelle Brooks), Jason Coutu (Carolyn Coutu), Karen Egan (James Egan), and Zack Duffy (Kaysha Duffy); 16 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Bob, Leroy, Donald, Leonard, Elizabeth, Phyllis, Gerald, Margaret and Kenneth.
A memorial service will be held at All Saints Parish in Portland, Oregon on Saturday, September 13 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Duffy’s memory to Do Good Multnomah, Blanchet House or a charity of your choice.
He will be deeply missed.
