Mark Edward Avery

September 28, 1960 — March 17, 2024

Cornelius

Mark was born September 28, 1960 in Portland Or. He was the third of four children born to Lorin and Mary Avery. Mark was raised in SE Portland and attended St. Peters Catholic grade School and graduated from David Douglas high school class of 1978.

Mark was a bachelor his entire life. He lived in multiple locations in his younger years before purchasing a home near to his parents on Holgate Blvd in SE Portland. Mark had a number of jobs in his younger days but settled into a career at Nordstrom’s working in shipping and receiving.

Mark enjoyed playing sports. As a youngster he was active in football, baseball, and basketball depending on the season.  He was active in softball league’s playing with friends and his brother Clay. Mark also enjoyed hiking and successfully summited both the South and Middle Sister mountains in Central Oregon with his brother Clint. Some of Marks other hobbies were running RC cars and playing video games. Additionally, Mark enjoyed lifting weights in the basement of his home, and on occasion would participate in a tennis match with either of his older brothers.

Oh yes, cats. Mark was a cat guy, and had many pet cats over the years that he cared for.

Mark really enjoyed the many family camping trips we went on together. From the beach to the mountains, rivers and lakes, good food and campfires were enjoyed. Mark also went on several trips to Mexico and the Bahamas with his brother Clay. There was a trip to Washington DC and New York City that Mark took with friends and coworkers from Nordstrom’s. We have many photos and memories of these journeys.

Mark is preceded in death by his mother Mary Marcia Wallner Avery.

Mark is survived by his father Lorin Avery, his three brothers and spouse Clint and Cindy, Clay, and Bill Avery.
