Our beloved Marilyn Sirianni passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loved ones on May 15th at the age of 83. She was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend.
Marilyn was born to Joe and Barbara Manning on September 6, 1942, in Portland, Oregon. She graduated from Washington High School. After high school she went on to study at the University of Oregon Medical School (now OHSU) to be an x-ray technician. She finished her training in 1962. While in school she met her husband of 62 years, Donald Sirianni, then a dental student, on a blind date. They married in 1964 and had two children. While raising her children Marilyn volunteered at the March of Dimes and helped plan continuing education trips for the Oregon Society of Dentistry for Children.
Don and Marilyn settled in Milwaukie, Oregon where they raised their family. Marilyn’s children and grandchildren, and recently great grandchildren, were always her top priority. She cherished spending time with them, never missing a birthday, game, graduation, or holiday celebration. She was a great cook, mastering the Italian Pizzelle waffle cookie, an excellent seamstress, an avid sports fan and loved completing a daily Sudoku puzzle. Marilyn also loved to travel. Many memories were made in Seaside at the family Condo and in Sunriver at the family vacation home. Her travels also took her and Don to various states and over 30 countries. Her favorite destination was unquestionably Maui, Hawaii, which she visited frequently.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Patricia Purdy. She is survived by her husband Donald, and their two children, Kristin (Scott) Bowen and Michael (Barbara) Sirianni. Marilyn is also survived by four grandchildren, Katie (Calob) Kent, Mitch Bowen, Nicolas and Lucas Sirianni, two great grandchildren, Kylo and Cayden Kent, and her niece and nephews.
In honor of Marilyn, donations can be made to Providence Hospice and PKD Foundation of Portland. A private service and interment will be at Gethsemani Cemetery.
