Kathleen (Kay) Kent

April 9, 1929 - June 28, 2025

Kay passed peacefully on June 28, 2025. She was born on April 9, 1929, to John & Florence McCarthy, in Portland, OR, where she spent most of her life. She and her husband, Joe Kent, were married on May 11, 1974, in Spokane, WA. For years they worked happily together as owners of Oilco, Inc. For the past 2 ½ years Kay resided at Assumption Village, which is across the street from Roosevelt High School, where she attended. Kay was a proud long-time resident (6 generations) of St. Johns. 

Kay was a dedicated Trailblazers fan for 54 years. Family, friends, her many pet cats, reading, puzzling and gardening brought her much joy. 

Kay is survived by her daughter, Michele Chamberlain (Dave), son, Michael Grigsby (Debbe) and step-daughter, Jean Kent. Six grandchildren, Sean, Brian, Aaron (Marisol), Jennifer, Vanessa (Ed), Ryan (Jennifer), Cindy (Shawna) and Amy (Michael). Seven great-grandchildren, Kayden, Ella, Ian, Mason, Kinley, Cyrus and Clara. They called her GGK and were the loves of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, John & Florence McCarthy, husband, Joe Kent and sister, Lee Mills and step-son, James Kent. 

Our heartfelt thanks for the care and compassion lovingly shown by the staff at Assumption Village and Providence Hospice.

At Kay’s request, there will be no service.

May her memory be a blessing to all who knew her.
