Fr. Louie Urbanski

Father Louis John Urbanski Jr., 86 years old of Hillsboro, Oregon, passed away on April 22, 2025 after the progression of Alzheimer’s disease.

Louie was born on June 19,1938 to Louie Urbanski and Rose Babl in Atkinson, Nebraska. Louie attended St. Patrick Elementary School in NW Portland and went to Central Catholic High School in SE Portland. After graduating from high school, Louie attended the University of Portland and then Mt Angel Catholic Seminary for the Archdiocese of Portland. He was ordained a Catholic priest on May 23, 1964.

Louie was a faculty member of Central Catholic High School from 1964 to 1974 and helped at St Rose, St Peter, St Pius X, St Mary of the Valley and Marylhurst College. In 1974 he became principal at Regis High School in Stayton, Oregon. Louie remained there until 1981 when he moved back to Central Catholic as a Vice Principal until 1984. In 1984 Louie moved to St Mary of the Valley to be principal until 1988.

In 1988 Louie left the education field and entered into parrish life serving as Pastor at a number of Portland area churches including St. Therese, St Elizabeth of Hungary and St Elizabeth Ann Seton until his retirement in 2017.

Louie spent his retirement working on the family farm in Hillsboro. He loved riding around on his tractor and 4-Wheeler maintaining the farm’s 23 acres. He also enjoyed meeting with a group of retired priests called Jesu Caritas.

Louis was preceded in death by his younger brother Larry. He is survived by his siblings Tony, Joan, and Barb.
