It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Daniel Jay Opfer, 46, of Beaverton, Oregon, passed away Thursday, March 26, 2026.
Born January 31, 1980 to Tom and Rita Opfer in Glendale, Arizona, Dan was gifted with a love for the outdoors, dachshunds (especially Daisy and Raja), and traveling the world. Moving with his family to Bend, Oregon in 1993, Dan would end up an Eagle Scout, a member of the marching band playing the trumpet, a member of the ski team, a scuba diver, and an avid tinkerer. Computer parts, model airplanes, and RC cars adorned his bedroom, and later his home.
Dan graduated from Bend Senior High School and the University of Portland with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He met his soulmate Sarah Beth Lynch, of Winlock, Washington during his freshman year, would marry her on May 31, 2003, and spend the rest of his life seeing the world together with her.
Always smiling and ever the friend to whomever he met on his travels, in school, at work, or gaming online, Dan will never be forgotten. He is survived by his wife Sarah, his parents Tom and Rita, and his brother Jon.
Funeral services will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Church, in the Christ Church space on Chandler Road, on April 10, 2026 at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers or donations, his family asks that if you are traveling and see something amazing, that you pause in a prayer for Dan.
