Christine Carol Pfau

February 26, 1949 — August 17, 2025

Portland, OR

Christine was born on Feb. 26, 1949, in Elgin, North Dakota. She spent her first 10 years on a farm with her parents and two sisters. They lived in a four-room house with a cellar underneath and an outhouse in the backyard. Christine attended a country school in Brisbane where only two rooms were being used. After moving to Portland, OR in 1959, she finished her education at Holy Redeemer, Jefferson High School and Portland Community College, Cascade Campus. Her parents bought a rooming house with four bedrooms (what a change). Christine married Jim Pfau on June 8, 1968. Together for 57 years they had three sons: Mike, Dennis, and Brian. They spent 48 years in the same house in north Portland, then moved to a wooded area east of Sandy, OR for another seven and a half years before moving to her last home at Assumption Village.

Christine is proceeded in death by her parents Monica (Hintz) and Emanuel Ruscheinsky and sisters Viola Himmelspach and Clara Ackerman. Christine is survived by her husband Jim and three sons Mike, Dennis, and Brian. She is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers and in remembrance of Christine’s life and love, the family requests that any charitable donations be made to Holy Cross Catholic Church in Portland, Oregon.

A special thank you to Jana Ripley and Gods Girls.
