Anne Francis Kelly passed away on February 27, 2025, in Sandy, Oregon, at the age of 90. Born on July 17, 1934, in Fresno, California, Anne lived a life marked by intellectual curiosity, deep faith, and unwavering devotion to her family.
Anne pursued her education at Lake Oswego High School and Lincoln High School before continuing her studies at the University of Oregon where she was also a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. A devout Roman Catholic, religion played a significant role in her life, shaping Anne's values and guiding her interactions with family and friends.
A lifelong learner, Anne had an insatiable appetite for knowledge. Anne was particularly fascinated by psychology—especially the contributions of Carl Jung—and had an extensive understanding of World War II history. Anne's love of reading extended far beyond entertainment; Anne sought to understand the complexities of human nature and historical events with remarkable depth, she also had a love of music, and singing. Anne’s passion for learning and music was something she passed down to her children and grandchildren, fostering a shared appreciation for diverse topics.
Raising five children was no small feat, but Anne embraced the challenge with grace and determination. Caring for a large family required skill and patience—qualities she mastered effortlessly. Beyond being a dedicated parent, Anne was also a loving grandmother and great-grandmother who cherished time spent with her growing family. Anne was not only a source of wisdom but also a trusted confidant to both relatives and friends.
Anne is survived by her five children: Vanessa Lamson, Kelly Gabbert, Marianne McLaughlin, Kevin Gabbert, and Andrée Kelly; twelve grandchildren: Desmond Fonseca-Lamson, McKenna Lamson, Colin Schact, Faye Lewis, Patrick McLaughlin, Kirk McLaughlin, Conor Gabbert, Hadyn Gabbert, Riley Gabbert, Caitlin Laman, Sasha Laman, and Arley Laman; seven great-grandchildren: Lilinoe Fonseca-Lamson, Hartley Ross, Maggie McLaughlin, Charlotte McLaughlin, Dorothy Laman-Ross, Roman Laman-Tibbs, and Penn Laman-Tibbs; as well as two nieces: Margaret Cunningham and Elizabeth Cristo; and one nephew: Richard Caruso.
Anne was predeceased by her parents Margaret Veronica Kelly and Francis Desmond Kelly, as well as her sisters Marcia Kathryn Smith, and Sara Kelly.
