ANN URSULA MOHAR GEHRING

May 12, 1929 - August 4, 2025

Ann Ursula Mohar Gehring, wife, mother, and grandmother, passed peacefully on Monday, August 4th, 2025, at the age of 96. Ann was born in Cle Elum, Washington, to parents Anton (Tony) Mohar and Anna Bednar Mohar. Growing up on the family’s farm at the foot of Mt. Peoh Point, she was the youngest of five children. Despite the rugged rural environment, the post-Depression era, and the hardships brought on by the War, in which her older brothers were deployed, Ann excelled in school. Throughout her High School years, she was a member of the Choir, and Drama Club, eventually earning live singing performances on the radio. Her initial plan to study music in college was exchanged for a move to Seattle to take business courses, and accept a job at Olympic Life Insurance.

While in Seattle, Ann met her future husband, Joe Gehring, in 1951, later marrying in 1956. After relocating to Los Angeles, they moved back to the Pacific Northwest in 1966, to Tigard, Oregon. When she was not busy raising their two sons, she helped with the family business doing bookkeeping and logistics.

As an active member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Tigard, she frequently volunteered in the Church’s office, and helped plan and organize events and fundraisers. When her son, who was in the parish Boy’s Choir, went to Europe on tour, she went as a chaperone. She and Joe were avid travelers, taking their family on adventurous and educational trips, including a historical tour of the East Coast of the United States, and a visit to the colonial towns of Central Mexico. They hosted two Costa Rican exchange teachers, and then later took the family to visit them in their native Costa Rica. Ann and her husband traveled to many interesting and exotic destinations, from the Cook Islands to the Caribbean, from Madeira to Malta, Tunisia and Greece.

Ann is survived by her two sons, Brian and Reid, grandchildren Jonathan and Brandee, sister-in-law Mickey Mohar, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are her husband Joe, her parents Anton and Anna, and her four siblings, Ella Morrison, John Rothlisberger, Norman Mohar and Donald Mohar.

Entombment, alongside her husband, will be at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Portland, Oregon, on Thursday, August 21st, at 10:30 am.

Arrangements are by Springer and Son Funeral Home.
