Andrew Michael Pinkowski

Andrew “Andy” Michael Pinkowski passed away on November 26, 2023 surrounded by loved ones at the age of 89.  Andy was born on May 21, 1934 in Cicero, Illinois to Andrew Michael Pinkowski and Catherine Derengowski Pinkowski. He grew up with his two brothers, Robert (Bob) and Leonard. He graduated from St. Ignatius High School and Loyola University in Chicago and received his MBA from the University of Denver.

Andy married Rita Gallery Seaman in 1957; together they had seven children: Michael Pinkowski, Mary Mattecheck, Jane Pinkowski, Martha Jacobs, Sarah Cantwell, Ellen Lazaris, and Ann Houck.

Andy began his career in marketing, working in Chicago, Denver, and Minneapolis before settling in Portland, Oregon in 1967.  As the first in their families to settle in the Pacific Northwest, Andy and Rita’s home became party central. Holidays were all celebrated on Menefee Drive. Andy loved most of all to have his family, and their families, around him. He enjoyed fishing in the Pacific, the rivers in Portland, and in Florida. Andy and Rita loved to travel together, especially in retirement.

In 2013, Andy and Rita moved to Mary’s Woods where they found a warm, welcoming community and wonderful friendships. They also appreciated living with the Sisters and finding many friends among them.  Andy had a deep faith that infused his life, his family, and in all of his associations with people. He was cheerful, upbeat, and kind.

His family will celebrate privately, along with the Mary’s Woods community, at the weekly mass at the Mary’s Woods Chapel.
