Allan G Guthrie 87 passed away peacefully in his home in Milwaukie, Oregon on May 13, 2025. Which is exactly where he wanted to be.

Allan was born January 20th, 1938, in Portland, Oregon to Alfred and Blanche Guthrie.

He graduated from Franklin High School in 1955 and then joined the U.S. Army and then later the National Guard, Allan was honorably discharged in 1966.

During his service in the Army national guard, he went to work in the mail room at the Fred Meyer Administration office where he met Myrna Martin. He later began his career at the Fred Meyer Dairy Plant on Swan Island making Mighty Fine Cottage Cheese for Fred Meyer grocery stores. He retired after thirty-five years with the company in 1993.

Allan and Myrna were married June 25th, 1960. They were so happy and perfect for each other. They were married for 57 years before her passing in 2017.

Allan was an expert in many trades. He loved playing the piano and was exceptionally good at it. He had a passion to build and create things around the house, as well as adding to the house, building the patio and huge family picnic table. He loved to work with leather, he made many leather goods from leather camera bags, belts, wallets, and pistol holsters. Allan loved music, some of his favorites being jazz and ragtime, as well as his treasured HiFi equipment. He loved being the first to buy the latest new gadget, big screen TV, Beta movie machine, then VHS, microwave oven and trash compactor. Allan and Myrna enjoyed time spent with their family at holidays and various gatherings, putting puzzles together, garage sales and thrifting. He loved his boats and loved boating, fishing, and crabbing. Pastimes included hiking to Ramona Falls, camping, ping pong, horseshoes, photography, including being honored to have a photo of Siletz Bay published in the Lincoln City annual calendar.

Allan and Myrna attended St. Johns in Milwaukie, Or. and Our Lady of Sorrows in S.E. Portland most recently. Allan had a life well lived and wanted for nothing.

Allan is survived by his brother, Lyle Guthrie (Seal Rock, OR); his daughters Karry Miller, Kim Hamilton (Norman) and son Craig (Aimee). Five grandchildren, Joshua Hamilton (Julie), Nickolas Hamilton (Merissa), Christopher Miller (Allie), Ashley Fine (Zachary) and Travis Guthrie, as well as two great grandchildren.
